Our History

Our History

We are guided by the principles set forth by the Scout Oath, Scout Law, Scout Motto, Scout Slogan and the Outdoor Code. It is our responsibility to help young boys become responsible young men of good character for themselves, their community, and the world around them.  We practice our youth leadership skills through camping trips 8-10 times per scout year, community service projects, fundraisers, weekly meetings, and day activities.

Troop 597

Celebrating 90+ Years

The troop is proud to have helped more than 75 scouts reach the rank of Eagle Scout and many more proceed through merit badges and other rank advancements each on their own individual path. Merit badges and rank advancements are strongly encouraged but not required.  Our philosophy is that what a boy gets out of scouting is up to him and the path should not be drawn by someone else.  The help is always there no matter what path is chosen.  We provide the opportunity and support for every scout to participate and advance as far as he wishes to go in scouting.  We are very proud of our many Eagle Scouts and are equally as proud of those who choose to embrace scouting in other aspects.   Many of our scouts and leaders have attended National Jamborees and high adventure bases and many are active in the Order of the Arrow service organization.
